


| JOB OPPORTUNITIES (IN-SERVICE) POSTAL POLICE OFFICER POSITION(S) at: Security Force Worksites in the Boroughs of New York City APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BETWEEN May 14 through May 28, 2012 Who can apply: All qualified career Postal employees with at least one year of continuous service whose permanent duty stations are within 50 miles of the vacancy office or who live within 50 miles of the vacancy office , are eligible to apply. Applicants will need to have access to email/internet to take the assessment . Salary: From $34,164 to $53,833 per annum The Job: Postal Police Officers perform duties on postal property. They prevent depredation and the loss or damage of postal property and mail on postal property. They patrol and observe postal premises to prevent assaults on postal employees. They monitor persons in and around postal property and act to prevent prohibited items from being brought on postal premises, and they confiscate such items. They operate motor vehicles and monitor electronic security devices that provide surveillance and alarm protection. They immediately respond to emergency situations including accidents, illnesses, fires, unrest, and other circumstances threatening life and property. They carry a firearm in the exercise of their duties. They may be required to work hours outside their assigned tour. General Qualifications: • Applicants must pass the Postal Police Officer assessment. • Applicants must possess a valid state driver’s license issued in their state of residence and must have a safe driving record. • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age. • Applicants must be physically and psychologically able to perform the essential duties of the position (Applicants who advance in the selection process will receive a conditional job offer and must subsequently pass a drug test and a physical and psychological assessment ). • Selected applicants will undergo an extensive background check which must support the applicant’s favorable adjudication for a sensitive security clearance. The salary range is determined through Collective Bargaining with the respective union and is subject to change. Applicants must have uncorrected vision of 20/100 (Snellen) in both eyes, correctable to 20/40 in both. Incision Radial Keratotomy and poor color vision may be a disqualifying condition.
